- At the start, Ms. Kinnian tells Charlie that he can get an experiment done to be able to get smarter. Of course, Charlie is super excited to be able to be a test subject on the operation.
- Climax
- The rising action is when Charlie gets the operation done and rapidly starts getting smarter.
- Falling Action
- As Charlie continues learning from Ms. Kinnian and spends alone time learning, Ms. Kinnian and the other researchers were super surprised by what Charlie can now accomplish. It's like he's a whole 'nother person that is "normal".
- Resolution
- The climax is when they find out that Algernon and the other test animals slowly lost their intelligence. They lost motivation to do anything and eventually, Algernon died.
- Charlie tries to figure out how to stop the regression of his intellect while he still has the ability to. He forms a study that is never completed because he loses too much intelligence to be able to understand what he wrote earlier.
- Charlie completely loses the intelligence he achieved and made others worry about him. He finally decides to leave New York so that nobody can be sad or guilty about his current state.
