- The rulers built Greek temples, statues and held athletic contests in their cities. Gradually a blending of eastern and western civilization occurred. Alexander also had many Persian customs
- Alexander's most immediate legacy was the introduction of Macedonian rule to huge swathes of Asia. Many of the areas he conquered remained in Macedonian hands or under Greek influence for the next 200 to 300 years.

- Hippocrates studied the cause of illness and looked for cures. His Hippocratic oath set the ethical standard for Doctors. The doctors today take a similar oath.
