Janet and Max have an assignment to research the Westward expansion of America. Their teacher challenges them to learn the perspective of someone their age traveling through unexplored territory.
Hey Janet! I did some research last night and found some cool journal accounts!
I found it in the back of the library at school. It was all dusty and gross, but I cleaned it up and read through it.
Old books give me the creeps. Let's see what you found.
That's great, Max! Where did you get the journal?
The students spread out on Max's floor so they could lay out all of the materials they needed for their project.
Wow! That's a big journal compared to the ones I found.
Lets me come over and see. . .
Here's the book. Look at all the journal entries.
Its almost like they wanted to make sure people in the future knew about what happened.
Janet and Max move closer to read the journal when they notice a strange page in the front of the book.
Pages are pages until you read them. Then they become your reality.
Suddenly there was a flash of light and Janet and Max found themselves somewhere that was definantly NOT Max's room.
Max and Janet looked around, wondering where they were. Finally, Janet realized.
Janet, do you mean we're going to be able to participate in Westward expansion?
Oh man, we are SO acing this project!
That's exactly what I mean Max!
Max, do you know where we are? We're in the middle of the biggest move in America's history!
Janet and Max decided that it would be best for them to try and blend in, so they found a group of travelers and stuck with them.
So are we just going to follow the wagon caravan? How are we going to get back home?
Let's just get a first-hand look at everything, before we worry about all that.
