  • This exam would test a candidate on skills such as oration, policy making, and most importantly, their knowledge on ruling by Confucian texts.
  • Finally, you have to take the last of the civil service examinations; the third-level exams. These are by far the hardest exams, so much so that people failed them multiple times and were forced to retake them. For this test, you must make your way to the capital and prepare yourself for the longest, most arduous test you will ever take. Of the students who took the initial exams, only 1% made it through these finals.
  • This exam would once again take place only in the capital but in the same separated cells. Students would stay there for days completing multiple-part exams, while the emperor himself observed.
  • The results for this final exam would be released in around 20 days.
  • There's more?!
  • If you've gotten the royal decree that shows that you've passed, congratulations! You are probably now in your 40s with no other life skills other than studying. You will be elevated in your ranks now!
  • But it's important to remember that this is just the beginning of your life as a government official. Be prepared to spend many more years dealing with the same problems you've been preparing to face all your life.
