"Look at the fire! Look at the flames! Flames everywhere…
"Men to the left! Women to the right!"
Crematorium
"I'm eighteen."
I am 40
"Your age?"
Madame Schachter starts to scream on the cattle wagon, telling that she saw fire. She foreshadows fate of jews as most of them would be sent to the crematorium
"If that is true, then I don't want to wait. I'll run into the electrified barbed wire. That would be easier than a slow death in the flames."
After getting off the wagons, an SS man began to separate the men and women. Eliezer had to be separated from his mother and three sisters.
“Where is God now?”
A man had warned them to say their age differently before the SS man came to them, so they said their age differently. They were normally 15 and 50 years old. They told such a lie to look vigorous and healthy
After Eliezer sees the babies being burned in the crematorium, his happiness of living miserably ends and he wants to die.
After all that has happened, Eliezer thinks that God did not help him and that it is not fair and loses his faith in God.
