So Tim, did you do the math work thats due today?
Ok everyone were pulling up to the school right now, grab your things and head to the front of the bus.
They arrive to the school, get off and head inside to first period which was biology. Ameliá´s favorite subject.
Good morning students. Nice to see you all again. Today we will be talking about Mitosis vs. Meiosis.
Good morning Ms. Link.
Are the cells at the end of mitosis haploid or diploid? Diploid.
How many divisions are there in mitosis? One.
How many chromosomes are there at the beginning and at the end of mitosis? 46 chromosomes.
Are the cells at the end of meiosis haploid or diploid? Haploid.
How many divisions are there in meiosis? Two.
How many cells are at the start and end of mitosis? Two daughter cells.
How many cells are at the start and end of meiosis? Four daughter cells.
Please copy the questions and the answers that are the black boards. Does anyone have any questions?
What type of cells are produced in meiosis? Four gamete cells
What types of cells are produced in mitosis? Identical daughter cells.
How many chromosomes are there at the beginning and at the end of meiosis? 23 chromosomes/
Ms. Link! I have a question. So are the daughter cells genetically identical at the end of mitosis and meiosis?
Well Mitosis creates two identical daughter cells that each contain the same number of chromosomes as their parent cell. Meiosis creates new combinations of genetic material in each of the four daughter cells.
Anywho class seems like all the time we have to take about this today. Hopefully you took all the notes that were on the black boards. Have a great rest of your day.
Also one advantage of mitosis is that it creates identical copies of the original and one disadvantage is that there is no diversity. As for meiosis it allows sexual reproduction of diploid organisms and a disadvantage is that it requires 2 gemetes.
