the main characters include , Lizabeth, Joey, Miss Lottie, and Lizabeth's parents. Set in a town during the Great Depression, Lizabeth realizes she needs to grow up. the main conflict includes poverty and just the world around Lizabeth.
climax
when Lizabeth arrives home, eats dinner, then goes to bed is suddenly woken up by the sound of her parents arguing about money. Her father was unable to find a job to support the family, for the first time Lizabeth hears her father cry.
falling action
Lizabeth and her brother go to Miss Lotties yard and throw rocks at her garden.
resolution
Lizabeth destroys Miss Lottie's Marigolds in a fit of rage. She tears out the marigolds and lets out every ounce of emotion and hatred she had towards the marigolds out her body,\.
Lizabeth realizes what she did was out of a fit of rage, she instantly regrets it. she also realized Mrs. Lottie did not have much and was trying to make the world around them a better place. Later, Miss. Lottie passes away.
The realization that what she did with the marigolds was the final straw of Lizabeth being a child, she grows into a mature person, she then plants her own marigolds into her garden.
