- Once upon a time in a kingdom far away, there lived a young girl named Ella. She had a beautiful mile and a heart of kindness. She loved to cook and play outside. However, when her mother died and her father married an evil woman, Ella was faced with many hardships. Ella’s two stepsisters constantly insulted Ella’s love for cooking and trying new foods. They sat and mocked every time she sat down to eat a meal.
- TTheir hurtful words began to weigh on Ella’s heart. She began a cycle of self-doubt and self-loathing that she could not escape. As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months Ella became more and more conscious of the food she was eating. She began to count each bite meticulously and keep account of the sugar in each item of food. She was in constant fear of eating too much. Her meals became smaller and smaller, as did her waist. Cooking and enjoying food, which once gave her happiness, had become the worst part of her day. She no longer wanted to eat at all. When she woke up in the morning, she immediately wanted to go back to bed so that she did not have to face the hunger from not eating. Her stepsisters continued to ridicule her, even after noticing the hollowness in her face. They hid their jealousy of her now small figure, by continuously remarking about Ella’s love for food.
- Wait, you forgot to eat
- One afternoon, the king announced there would be a grand ball in which all could attend. It was also announced that the Prince would be looking for eligible maidens. The stepsisters bought the finest dresses imaginably. The town was filled with excitement. Ella went to the dress shop, with the small budget she was given. Her normal size no longer fit her, and she spent half the time in the dressing room crying. She finally found a dress that somewhat fit her, but she did not love it entirely. Ella’s fairy godmother saw the mess unfolding and decided Ella would not be able to walk to the ball, due to the possibility of her fainting, thus she transformed a pumpkin into a carriage, and mice into horses.
- At the ball, Ella tried her best to blend in, but the wide array of beautiful foods layed out made it hard for to enjoy herself. The prince caught Ella’s face as she stared longingly at the food.
- Due to her embarrassment, Ella ran into the garden. The prince had followed her into the moonlite space, and inquired why Ella had run from him. She told him everything about her mother, her stepsister, and her battle with her mind over food. He sat and listened to her, like no one ever had before. He abruptly stood up and walked away. Ella was confused, but had a feeling he would come back. He reappeared with a plate of food and promised to talk and distract her as she ate. He promised to pay the judgment fee.
- The two fell in love, and Ella became the queen. She advocated for mental health and inspired her citizens to seek out help.
