And so we hurried to Clemens' shop, but there were many Egyptians blocking the street.
ubi hoc audivi, magis timebam. nam in casa viri Graeci eram;extra ianuam casae Aegypti Graecos vituperabant.
When we saw this, we became anxious. The Egyptian boy, which sensed my anxiety, led me to a nearby cottage.
Aegypti ianuam effregerunt et in casam irruperunt.
The craftsment looked through the window in his cottage by chance. When he recognized the boy, he let us into his house gladly
puer mortuus est, inquit Diogenes. Aegypti eum necaverunt, quod ille te defendebat.
When I heard this, I got even more scared. For in the cottage there was a Greek man; and outside the door the Egyptians were cursing the Greeks.
The Egyptians broke down the door and burst into the house.
The boy is dead, said Diogenes. The Egyptians killed him, because he defended us.
