The 1930s: Not a great beginning for Pittsburgh
Welcome to Forbes Field in 1933. My name is Art Rooney and I am the proud owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, you know us now as the Steelers
Hi I am Byron "Whizzer" White one of the team's best players from the 1930s. Later in life JFK appointed me to the Supreme Court.
I'm Earle "Greasy" Neale and I coached and played for the Steagles, the combined team of the Steelers and Eagles in 1943.
1940s: A war on and off the field
We had to combine teams because of World War II. There were less players and attendance was down. It helped both franchises survive.
1950s: Building a better team
Hey I'm Bobby Layne and I'm the quarterback of the 1958-62 team. Many people know me as a heavy drinker but that doesn't stop me from being a unit on the field.
I'm Ernie Stautner and I was one of the first mean and tough Steelers. Some say that I made a "new standard of success".
1960s: New Characters
I'm Eugene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb my career was only two years. It was so short because I had an overdose in my apartment. I was six feet and six inches tall with a weight of 300lbs. I was one of the biggest players of my time.We played most of our games at the University of Pittsburgh in the 1960s.
I'm Franco Harris and I caught the Immaculate Reception. Next to me is Terry Bradshaw one the best quarterbacks.
1970s: A Super Decade
Franco's catch is considered "the most famous, most significant, and most controversial play in the history of the NFL." Don't look at the crazy guy in the stands that's Jack Lambert he eats glass.
I'm Mean Joe Greene and I was part of the Steel Curtain defense. We together won four Super Bowls led by our great coach Chuck Knoll.

1980s: Loss of the leaders
The 1980s was not a great decade. Most of our hall of fame players retired and our great owner Art Rooney passed away in 1988.
I'm Kordell "Slash" Stewart. They call me slash because I can play multiple positions mostly quarterback.
1990s: The Rebuilding
I'm Rod Woodson and I am one of the best defenders of this time. I led my team to Superbowl XXX. Unfortunately we lost.
After 23 years Chuck Noll retired and now I am coach Bill Cowher. I will coach the team and bring them to greatness.
I'm Troy Polamalu you might recognize me for my long luscious hair. I was the best safety out there.
I'm Ben Roethlisberger the Steelers 2000s franchise quarterback. I would lead the team to three Super Bowls and win two of them.
2000s: Back to Greatness
I'm Jerome Bettis and you call me "the bus". That was my nickname because I would run people over. In my last season we won the Super Bowl
Sixburgh
I'm Mike Tomlin and I took over after Bill Cowher. We together had one Super Bowl win each. The Steelers have only had three head coaches since 1969.

Super Bowl XLIII
I'm Art Rooney II, grandson of original owner Art Rooney and now owner. I hope you've learned some of the great Steelers history.
