- Hi! My name is jack I am a firefighter and i got seriously hurt because i didn't keep equipment my maintained
- a couple years ago
- my gloves had a hole in the corner of my glove i thought nothing of it until it happened i got to close to the fire and i suffered from burns on my hand
- when i was sent out to fight my first fire i had not kept my personal protective clothing in good condition
- when it happened some of the team came and helped me. they called an ambulance where then i was rushed to the hospital to be treated
- this is a consequence i regret not looking after the things i needed most to protect me
- because poor protection equipment or PPE can greatly increases the risk of injury. Burns, cuts, punctures, electrocution, and slips the list goes on.
- if i had looked after my gloves little bit better i wouldn't have had that problem i should have taken better care and looked after my gloves
- Proper footwear can prevent many of these, as can appropriate gloves, clothing, headgear, goggles, face protection, and so on
- after that incident i always made sure to get the proper information i needed to remain safe. If something looks unsafe tell someone right away
- please dont do what i did protect yourself and try to not make rookie errors( its easier said then done) if i had looked after my things all of this could have be prevented
- there are many websites that want to help and protect teens and people under the age of 25
