The Girls and Tituba summon "The devil" in order to kill Elizabeth Proctor, the event that starts the chain reaction of blame in the town.
Betty Parris falls ill and her father places blame on Abigail for doing witchcraft with Betty and Tituba. Abigail admits they did dance however Betty is not witched.
Betty awakens and calls for her long dead mother, then, makes her way to the window from where she tries to fly out.
Abigail tries to rekindle her affair with John Proctor. He does not want anything to do with her, since he is a married man. He swore he would cut his own hand off before he would ever continue his relationship with her.
Reverend Hale interrogates the girls and grasps Abigail. He asks her if she summoned the Devil the night they were in the forest with Tituba.
Rev. Parris asks Tituba if she was doing witchcraft and Tituba admits she has. Rev. Parris congratulates her for confessing and says that the Devil has no power over a minister.
