- I, John Adams nominate William Marbury along with many other federalist judges to be a justices on the Supreme Court.

- I am the new president and I do not want federalist judges on the Supreme Court so I want you to NOT give the commission to allow these justices on the Supreme Court.

- This is ridiculous!! I will of course be able to become a judge since I am entitled to the writ and the commission has already been created. The Supreme Court definitely has the power to issue the writ. I am suing James Madison.
- According to the Judiciary Act of 1789 we, the Supreme Court, do not have the power to issue your commission. Marbury you lose the case and are not able to become the Justice of Peace on the Supreme Court.
- The long term effects that occurred after this are that the Supreme Court created judicial review which gives the judicial branch the power to declare things unconstitutional. This helps create balance among the branches because without this the judicial branch would not have much power. This also helped declare the constitution as loose framework and made it so the Judicial Branch has the power to change or remove things from the constitution.
