im Foster Hewitt. I was born in toronto on November 21, 1902. i grew up and lived my hole life here. i attended College and the University of Toronto.
i was a sports editor of the Toronto Star, manager of Toronto Rugby Football Club and secretary of the Ontario Hockey Association. Foster Hewitt worked as a sports writer for the Toronto Daily Star at the beginning of his career and then later on switched to a new radio desk.
I was one of the first radio broadcasts of a hockey game. the success i got led me to try broadcasting a wide variety of sports. but my name was most indelibly associated with hockey.
I became a pioneer in hockey broadcasting and served as a symbol of national unity for hockey fans across Canada. i am known for the now-famous phrase “He shoots, he scores!” that is still used by announcers to this day.
