Each state in our country has its own unique fun facts that kids will love to discover. For this activity, students will create a 3 cell storyboard that depicts some interesting facts they have learned about Texas. Teachers can encourage students to research their own fun facts, or provide a list of ones for students to look at specifically.
Here are some examples students could choose from:
Texas is the second largest state in area, after Alaska, and the second largest state in population, after California.
Texas was its own country between 1836-1845.
Vietnamese is the 3rd most spoken language in Texas, after English and Spanish.
The catchphrase, “Don’t mess with Texas”, originated as an anti-littering campaign! It is now used to show Texan pride.
High school football is extremely valued in Texas.
Whole Foods grocery store began in Texas in 1980.
