Activity Overview
To enhance student learning and comfort with weather expressions, ask them to relate weather expressions to logical clothing items. In the model storyboard, a friend is asking, “What are you wearing and why?” Students must use complete sentences, an appropriate weather expression, and appropriate clothing options to respond. In addition to weather expressions, this activity allows students to practice their conjugation of the verb llevar and their use of clothing vocabulary. According to skill level and interest, students may create either a simple, straightforward storyboard, or they may choose to research new clothing vocabulary and less common weather expressions.
For further advancement, ask students to research weather in other areas of the world at various times. The friend calling in the storyboard states where they are, the weather, and what, therefore, they are wearing. Then the student’s character responds similarly from their area of the world.
