  • Introduction
  • Evolution is the process where organisms have a change in their heritable characteristics overtime. Two pieces of evidence which are commonly used as evidence for evolution are biogeography and the fossil record
  • Biogeography Explained
  • Biogeography is an excellent bit of evidence for evolution, it is a part of biology which deals with the geographical distribution of plants and animals.
  • Biogeography Example
  • Talk about what evolution is and introduce my two bits of evidence for evolution.
  • Fossil Record Explained
  • The fossil record is another bit of evidence for evolution, it is the study of the placement of fossils in certain types of rock. The record is able to indicate from millions of years ago what types of animals and plants existed and what characteristics they had. In doing so it is able to show us how organisms have changed over time due to evolution.
  • Introduce what Biogeography is to the viewer.
  • Fossil Record Example
  • It’s the 1830s and Charles Darwin is on a voyage around the world on the HMS Beagle. On the voyage’s return, the Beagle arrived in the Galapagos Islands. Here Darwin observed a difference in the size and shape of the beaks of Finches across the Islands. Darwin observed more than a dozen different closely related Finches with noticeably different beaks. Why’s this, you may ask. Because of evolution.
  • Conclusion
  • Ultimately, it is clear that both biogeography and the fossil record are evidence for the evolution of organisms. Both are able to provide us with information that lets us understand where and what different organisms evolved from.
  • Explain what the Fossil Record is.
  • The first fossil found of the Eohippus can be dated back to the 1820s in France, when comparing this fossil record to the modern day horse it is clear that organisms have most certainly evolved over time. The horse showcases evolutionary trends of an increase in size, decreased number of hooves, longer legs and increase in brain size. All of these characteristics helping the horse become more adapted to surviving and reproducing.
  • Close off my video with a conclusion and then show my bibliography.
