  • Hi Ena, I Have something to tell you. Me and my boyfriend had a fight again last night. This has been on going issue. We don't understand each other. I'm tired of this!
  • Ohh.. That's sad. Maybe because the way how you talk to each other. Let's go to Mrs. Mori ask her opinion.
  • Good morning Mrs. Mori, what can you say about couple that barely understand each other?
  • Hmm.. it's depends. Are you guys aware that there are 3 different types of messages that can help your thoughs and ideas .
  • Hmm.. 3 types of message?
  • for example By saying "You can go now" or doing the hand gesture waving your back, even though you politely say it other people might think its disrespectful.
  • Primary message is the intentional content of your message could it be verbal or non-verbal.
  • Secondary message is unintentional content,both verbal and non verbal. your listener will form impressions of your intentional message, both negative and positive, over which you have no control .
  • theres a lot of factors that can influence your message. like, physical attractiveness,age,gender, or ethnicity or even simple mannerism and patterns of speech.if your boyfriend depends on this factors on how he perceive your message, maybe you have to work with it with him.
  • Auxilliary is intentioonal and unintentional ways a primary message is communicated.this may include vocal inflection,gestures and posture, or rate of speech that that influence that interpretation or perception of your message
  • for example your meeting your boyfriend at a restaurant he smile and wave his hand to indicate the empty chair on the other side of the table to invite you to sit.
  • which one do you usually use?maybe both of you need to contemplate on how you communicate thats why you always misunderstand each other.
