- A nymph, cursed to only answer others with their own words, fell in love with Narcissus when she saw him walking in the woods.

- When she was rejected, she hid away and her bones turned into stone after she died, but we still hear her echoes today.
- Take off your hands! you shall not fold your arms around me. Better death than such a one should ever caress me!

- Narcissus fell deeply in love with the reflection in the fountain.
- Echo grieved the loss of Narcissus. As he said farewell, so did she. When Narcissus died, his body was changed into a flower.
