Renee is a clinical Social Worker that provides counselling to people who want to improve their mental health.
Research and Philosophy
How was the data collected, and was the community involved in analysis and verification?
Chance was referred to Renee by her Addiction counselor, Faith.
History
Using TIP, Renee noticed Chance relax and start to build trust within the therapeutic relationship.
Filling the Gaps on Social Justice
With a shared understanding of what Chance wanted for herself, Renee and Faith developed a plan together to address the co-occurring issues getting in her way.

Remembering that research standpoint shapes the understanding of an issue made Renee aware of whose voice is being heard in the research.
Understanding what this may represent to Chance prompted Renee to be transparent about position, power, and privilege and offer allyship in ongoing social injustices.
My own social location is built on the power of imperial domination and the privileges that were granted to occupying colonial settlers.
Allyship, decolonization, and education
Chance has been impacted by oppressive colonial structures that caused her to be marginalized and suffer discrimination.
Renee also used Attachment Theory to help Chance understand the ruptures in her family relationships.
Chance began to understand her childhood through a different perspective.
Going for walks on breaks served as a positive way for Renee to cope with the distressing content in Chance's story.
Chance needed a continuum of support once this service was completed, but there was risk that wouldnt be there.
