Testo Storyboard

  • The Main Sequence
  • In this stage the solar mass is in between 10-150.
  • In stage one high-mass stars are made up of 98% hydrogen and helium. In this stage the hydrogen which is in the core burns until 1/3 of the hydrogen in turned into helium.
  • This stage does take up most of a high-mass's stars life. Approximately 90%.
  • Hello there! I'm here to tell you about the five stages of a high mass star!Right now we're in stage one.
  • Giant/Supergiant
  • This is stage two of a high-mass star. This is when a high-mass star can now make heavier elements. For example, iron. This happens through fusion.
  • This period takes up about 10% of a high-mass stars life.
  • Also, in this stage the star losses a lot of mass.
  • BOOM
  • Supernova
  • After this only 10% of the stars original mass is left.
  • This is the third stage of a high-mass star. This stage only lasts seconds but changes the star immensely. This is when the layer of helium and hydrogen on the outside layer are shot out along with some other heavier elements.
  • Black Hole
  • Now one of two things can happen after the supernova. Here we got a black hole!
  • uh oh
  • Black holes happen when a stars core collapses into a very dense matter. The gravitational pull is so strong that nothing can escape it! It's about 3 solar masses or bigger. Black holes last around 10^70years depending on the size of it.
  • Neutron Star
  • These stars last about 10^33-10^45 years. It's about 1.4-3 solar masses.
  • If after the supernova the star doesn't turn into a black hole in turns into a neutron star. A neutron star forms when the stars core collapses into a dense mass of neutrons.
  • Hope you learned something new about high-mass stars! See you later!
