- CONFLICT

- Ponyboy Curtis (A greaser) is the main character of the story, he is introduced when he is on his way home from the movies and gets jumped by a few socs.
- CLIMAX
- Greasers are on the poorer side while the Socs are more wealthy, both sides have a rivalry due to their different social classes
- FALLING ACTION
- Johnny murders Bob (a Soc), when he was protecting pony as they were getting jumped. Causing them to get help from their friend Dallas Winston and ran away to windrixville, where Johnny gets injured saving a few children from a burning church.
- RESOLUTION
- This causes a major fight between the Socs and the Greasers, and in the end the greasers win. Pony goes to see johnny but he passes away in the hospital.
- Shortly after, Dally dies and Ponyboy suffers from a concussion from when he was hit too hard in the big rumble. He awakens after a few days and some developments in Darry and Pony's relationship as brothers occurs.
- Ponyboy recovers from his physical and emotional trauma and writes a paper for school sharing his story, ending it the same way it started.
