  • at first, the struggle for freedom was grueling, and seemed impossible for many. as time went on, slaves got more and more hopeful on their chance to be free, with people such as harriet tubman and frederick douglass advocating for them. eventually they won the right for freedom, but their fight wasn't over yet. they still had to deal with equality, freedom, and rights to truly become free and equal.
  • with Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education, slowly but surely black people were getting the rights they deserved by fighting back and never giving up. protests, boycotts, they did everything they could to get equal rights for themselves and the future generations. it changed from fighting for freedom in war-
  • - to fighting for freedom peacefully through protests and court rooms.
  • he brought light to the atrocities of how hard they were trying, not just to gain freedom, but just to survive. he brought light to the horrible situation
  • when frederick douglass spoke on the 5th of july, 1852. he explained how the fourth of july cannot be celebrated by those who are still enslaved, and that certain americans don't even have the right to celebrate this special day. he told everyone how much slaves struggle and how terrible their conditions are.
