- Tsunamis are caused by an energy that originates underwater. This energy could come from a volcanic eruption, an underwater landslide, asteroids, or, most commonly, from earthquakes.

- These events release a massive amount of energy into the water.
- The energy displaces water and makes it rise above sea level. However, gravity makes the energy ripple down outwards horizontally.
- When it reaches the shore, the Tsunami becomes apparent due to its massive amount of energy being compressed in the shallow depth of the water, slowing the wave’s speed and increasing its height.
- This is called Wave Shoaling
- The Tsunamihas arrived to the coast. They can rise up to 100 ft in hight.
