Ponyboy...I think we should go back and turn ourselves in.
We have come this far! We can't go back now Johnny!
WHAT! But why???
But Dally I-
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? YOU POSSIBLY CAN"T TURN YOURSELF IN NOW!
Dairy Queen
Johnny is telling Ponyboy that they should go back and turn themselves back in. Johnny didn't want to get anyone in trouble and thought it would just be easier and safer to stop themselves from any problems now. Johnny was worried about Ponyboy since he is just a teenager and that he would have to keep his identity a secret with him. Scared and surprised, Ponyboy was worried about what was going to happen next. They had changed their whole looks and now Ponyboy is regretting it thinking they had done all that for nothing.
AHH!
There is a fire!!! Please follow us to evacuate the building!
COME ON! WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME.
Shocked and worried, Dally warns Johnny that turning themselves in won't be a good idea. Ponyboy and Johnny talk to Dally about turning themselves in and Dally gets red with rage. Dally was just worried since he had been in prison before and he knows how prisoners are treated and how going to prison can make them miserable.
I wonder how they are doing? Are they okay? Will they recover?
There was an old church in the distance and it was on fire! There were kids who went on a field trip there and the teacher told them not to go inside but they still did. The boys remembered that they might have dropped a cigarettes' there and that's why the fire was happening in the first place. Fearfully, Ponyboy and Johnny entered the church hoping to save all the kids!
Ponyboy...you had me worried sick! Please be more careful! I couldn't stand it if anything would happen to you!
Darry...I-I'm really sorry! I never meant to hurt or worry you!
Come on Darry...don't cry...
Ponyboy and Johnny decided to go in the church to help save the kids knowing it was their fault. They tried to get the kids out one by one by pushing them out the window. The boys tried to do it as fast as lightning. Brave, courageous, and strong, these words described Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade. They both tried to get the kids out hastily and then they tried to escape from the church just before it collapses.
Ponyboy and Johnny did save the kids luckily but now they are on the ambulance driving to the hospital since they weren't able to escape in time. Dally was going to the hospital as well since his arm had gotten burned badly. Johnny might have his back broken and his arm was severely burned. Ponyboy however, was saved because Dally's jacket had protected him from getting burned. Apprehensively, Ponyboy sat in the waiting room, waiting to hear news on how Johnny and Dally are doing.
Sodapop and Darry come to visit Ponyboy in the hospital. Suddenly, Darry started to cry. Confused and horrified, Ponyboy realized that Darry was silently crying. He hadn't seen him cry in years, Darry didn't even cry at their Mom and Dad's funeral. He had the same look on his face, the same one he has on now! Ponyboy learns that Darry really does care about him. Ponyboy then, apologizes to Darry.
