SIMILE

HYPERBOLE
A simile is a figure of speech that compares two things using "like" or "as". Example: "Momma would be as mad as flies in a fruit jar if they woke her up at this time of day."
Personification is speaking of an animal or thing as if it has human qualities. Example: "The hungry waters were licking and sometimes leaping the banks, daring them to come find it."
A hyperbole is an exaggeration used for effect, but not literally. Example: "Miss Bessie's bag is probably dragging ground by now."
