One thing I learned from this week is

That there is a specific part (Part C) in IDEIA which supports the child with disabilities from birth until 2 years old; to hopefully minimize the delay they may face due to their disability

To be eligible for services under IDEIA there needs to be deficits in at least ONE of the following areas:

Cognitive development, physical/motor development, communication development, emotional-social development and adaptive development

From age 2 a service coordinator will help the family get their child into programs from ages 3-5 (before they go into elementary school)

An IFSP is like the equivalent to an IEP plan but for the families before the child with disability enters the school system, This is a way for the early intervention process to be documented

The IFSP has a review every 6 months, or earlier if needed to meet the constant changing needs of the child

If a student is in a special education preschool from ages 3-5, there needs to be an IEP in place by age 3
