- The beginning of the arrival of Europeans from 1800-1830, and they stayed in Kororareka or Russel bay. The first Europeans who arrived in New Zealand were Traders, Sealers, Whalers and Missionaries. They interacted with locals and also partied hard, drank alcohol and gambled, which displeased the Missionaries upon other Maori Chiefs.
- 1834
- 13 Rangatira wrote to the British King, King William seeking for their protection against the French after a recent encounter with them that left bad first impressions. The Rangatiras were also concerned about the reckless behaviour happening in Kororareka.

- He Whakaputanga o te Rangatiratanga o Nu Tirene
- The King sent James Busby to New Zealand and he arrived in 1833. James Busby was the first British Resident of New Zealand.

- The first New Zealand flag was decided. The flag enables Maori to trade legally with other countries.
