- mountain men were fur traders that would explore and live off trading and collecting fur. They lived off the land.in winter they lived in native american villages.

- Oregon trail began in independence Missouri crossed the great plains then went over the rocky mountains  in present day Wyoming. The trail then followed the Columbia river into the Oregon region. it covered 2,000 miles. Too 4 to 6 months

- manifest destiny is the belief that Americans had the right,or even the duty to expand westward across to the pacific ocean. This would spread the glorious institutions of civilization and democracy to the barbaric native Americans.
