This Scene shows Issac after the eye surgery because of his cancer. This left him with his face covered in bandages and left, later on Issac talks to Hazel about how Monica didn't even come to visit even after they have been together for fourteen months.

This scene shows Hazel texting to Augustus that she doesn't want to go on a date with him, which also helps Hazel avoid a conversation with him about the date rejection. Later on when they are texting Augustus how she doesn't want to go on the date with him and kiss him. Hazel only does this because she does not want to end up hurting Augustus when she dies.
