  • Fur Traders
  • Fur trader: Is the fur that we agreed upon ready?
  • Native Americans and Fur traders used fair trading to get what both of them needed and couldn't provide themselves with easily.
  • Louisiana Purchase
  • President Thomas Jefferson finally was able to buy Louisiana so now we have to explore it.
  • The Louisiana Purchase took place in 1803. The United States bought the territory of Louisiana from France.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition/Daniel Boone
  • Lewis: When we go to the river called Missouri River we should be able to find new land. 
  • The Lewis and Clark Expedition is when two explores Meriwether Lewis, and and William Clark went out west to discover new things and find land. Another well known explorer is Daniel Boone, he led the expedition that discovered a trail to the west through the Cumberland Gap.
  • Oregon Trail
  • Can anyone see Chimney rock yet? 
  • The Oregon Trail was trail taken to get to the west in the time period of 1840-1870. around 350,00 people took this trail.
  • Gold Rush/ Sutter's Mill/ Inflation
  • We found gold!
  • In 1848 gold was found in California, causing many people to head West in search for it. Very few people ended up getting rich off of it though. By the time most people reached California most of the gold was gone and not commonly found. At a place called Sutter's Mill people found gold and became rich. With the cause of finding gold inflation occurred.
  • I just got back from Sutter's Mill, with a lot of gold. It's actually true they have gold there. Now I'm rich!
  • Barbed Wire/Joseph Glidden/ Cowboy 
  • Joseph Glidden is American business man/farmer who was the inventor of barbed wire. Barbed wire was invented in 1873 and was used to keep cattle or other livestock fenced in. Cowboys herded and rounded up livestock.
