- The British took advantage of the colonists and made their own decision without consulting the colonists.

- The British would do things to make the colonists angry. One of those things was the Stamp Act this made the colonists be taxed for manufactured items like paper.
- The Quartering Act this forced colonists to house the British soldiers in their homes with no choice.
- June 1776,Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. It was a piece of parchment paper that included why America can break off from British rule. On July 4th 1776 the Congress members signed the paper and we declared our independence from Britain.
