- this is useful for figuring out what exactly your going to do even before you figure out how you will be doing it.this also helps you establish goals, which can be useful for teaching students, because you can give them a "finish line"
- UbD has multiple stages, the first stage is identifying desired results, basically what do you want your students to learn.this also helps us get our "big idea" or what the lesson will be about.
- we can figure this out by using something called performance tasks, these are tasks that we have students do to measure knowledge, these are things like tests and quiz's for big stuff and small things like learning checks. you also need to give feedback on the assessments, tell your students what they did well and what they did wrong and teach them how to fix it for the next time.
- the second stage is determining assessment evidence/feedback and assessment, basically this I how you figure out weather you students have actually learned what you taught. this is very useful for making sure that your teaching strategies have actually worked.
- using UbD can help any teacher properly plan lessons that will prepare their students for success. teaching is when you impart knowledge onto others and learning is when you get that knowledge and remember it for later uses.
- the third and final stage is preparing your students for the assesment, this is how you plan the final lesson, you need to figure out how to teach the kids so that they can be successful in the assesment and teach them thatr.
