- Wiglaf went past the fire-spitter to find the treasure and grabbed handfuls of coins and gold to bring back to the grey-bearded Lord of the Geats. He comes back find Beowulf gasping his final breaths.
- Wiglaf shows the treasure to Beowulf and sprinkles water on his lips to help revive him.
- Take what I leave, Wiglaf and lead my people.Build me a tomb. Remember my name and call it Beowulf's tower.
- And when the battle was over Beowulf ’s cowardly followers came out of the woods. They came like shamefaced jackals, their shields in their hands, and waited for Wiglaf to speak.They stood weeping as they saw the ring-giver resting his final rest.
