- The children at school eagerly await the sun's predicted appearance, which occurs once every seven years on the planet Venus where it is always raining. Margot, a transfer student from Earth five years ago, who is frail, quiet, and pale, also desperately longs to see the sun. The other children are very mean to Margot.
- RISING ACTION
- RESOLUTION
- The children read and write short stories about the sun. Margot is the only one who remembers the sun and tells the others the sun is round like a penny and hot like a fire in the stove. The other children accuse her of lying.
- ☀️
- Envious of Margot’s memories of the sun, her classmates being led by William lock her inside a closet. Suddenly the rain finally stops and the sun comes out. The children rush outside, running, laughing, and enjoying the sunny outdoors, and forget all about Margot. Margot was left all alone crying inside the closet.
- One of the children playing outside suddenly begins to cry as it begins to rain again. They went back to their underground classroom feeling sad as it will take another seven years before they see the sun again.
- Suddenly, one of the children remembers that Margot is still locked inside the closet. Slowly, they unlock the closet door and let Margot out but she never got to see the sun anymore.
