My name is Joseph Haydn. I was a choirboy and studied at Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna.
I was a freelance musician in the 1750s. The beauty, order and clarity of my compositions made my music elegant.
Some of my most remarkable work includes the London Symphonies, the Cello Concert No. 2 and Trumpet Concert among many others.
From 1761-1790 I was the musical director for the Hungarian Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy's court. I conducted his personal orchestra.
I had very profitable public concert in the 1790s. I was very prolific and first to use Theme and variations in symphony.
By the end of my career, I was so ill I couldn't compose, It is suggested I suffered from arteriosclerosis. It was heartbreaking for me because I still had so many ideas and couldn't compose them.
I received may honors during my last years, I often found tranquility by playing the Emperor's Hymn.
I died peacefully in my own home on May 31, 1809. I was 77 years old.
