  • We will not. We are going to live peacefully.
  • Please, be our allies against the French
  • The Expulsion Of The Acadians
  • We agree. But, we will not fight with you against France
  • We will allow you to practice Catholicism only if you sign an oath declaring your loyalty to our king, George II
  • As you wish
  •
  • The oath tells us, if the British and the French go to war, you, Acadians will fight with us.
  • If you want to live in Acadia, you all must sign an oath of allegiance.
  • What is the oath?
  • 1755
  • We are not going to sign the oath
  • Acadia was first a French colony. Due to Treaty of Utrecht, Acadia was given to the British.

  • My house!!!
  • What?
  • In 1730, the Acadians and the British finally come to an agreement. Afterwards, the Acadians came to be known as 'the neutral French'
  •
  • But, the peace didn't last for long: when France and Britain were on the verge of war, Governor Charles Lawrence demanded that the Acadians sign an oath of allegiance. Of course, the Acadians refused
  •
  • Bonjour!!!
  • When the meeting was going on, British soldiers were knocking at the doors while the men were away and only women and children were at home. The soldiers, in order to drive the Acadians out of their home, set their homes on fire.
  • Miss, we are incredibly sorry, but due to the deportation order delivered by John Winslow, you all will have to leave.
  • No! (crying)No
  • During the deportation, as many as 10,000 Acadians were forced into ships and sent to the thirteen colonies, which are now in the United States, or they were sent to Europe. Almost one-third of the people who were forced onto the ships died before they reached their destination. Families were separated and some of the were never able to find each other again. At least one ship sank.
  • The Acadians were sent to the Thirteen Colonies which were Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Acadians who were sent to these colonies were sick and poor. The inhabitants of the colonies did not welcome them. Besides, they also spoke different languages.
  • Go back!!!
