- Capulet and Paris discuss Paris' desire to marry Juliet. Capulet believes that his daughter is too young to get married, but Paris is eager. Capulet proposes that Paris should try to win Juliet's heart in the traditional masquerade feast.

- In the Capulet house, Lady Capulet calls upon the nurse to find her daughter. Juliet, Lady Capulet and the nurse discuss if Juliet is ready to get married.
