- Olivia gets home from school and goes to the kitchen to get a snack when her mom asks:
- Ok mom!
- Olivia, will you start boiling the water? I'm making pasta tonight!
- As she turns on the stove, she thinks of something she learned in science class today
- This reminds me of what we're learning about in science. We talked about convection today and examples, like in the mantle, radiators, and boiling water.
- Suddenly, she sees a strange green light. Something very strange is happening
- What was that laser from?! It's shrinking me!!
- Even though Olivia knows she should be concerned that she's in a pot of water that's starting to boil, she can't help but be curious about this real life example of convection
- Woah. I must have ended up in the boiling water somehow. Weird that it doesn't feel that hot.
- As she's remembering what they learned what they learned that day, she remembered something concerning about convection and where the water will go
- This means that in just a little while, I will be pushed to the outside with the colder water which will then sink as it becomes more dense. If I sink to the bottom with the cold water, I will end up back at the heat source, the stove!
- Oh no! We learned about this in science! I'm near the surface right now, where all the hot water goes as it becomes less dense.
- Suddenly she sees a light again, but this time it's blue. I wonder what it could be...
- Wait. What's that blue light?
- I'm doomed
- AHHHHHHH
