Testo Storyboard

  • Of course i do.
  • grandpa do you know about the brown case?
  • back in the 1950's...
  • ill tell you all about it
  • but the court ruled#160;segregation was constitutional as long as the separate facilities forblacks and whites were equal.
  • The colored community had to protest against segregated schools.#160;
  • but a man by the name of Oliver brown claims that segregated public schools arenot “equal” and cannot be made equal because keeping black and white students separate sends a message that the black students are inferior. Therefore, the very act of separating black and white students violates the 14th Amendment
  • The supreme court the decided a complete reversal from its decision in the Plessy case, the Court said that the “separate but equal” doctrine “has no place” in public education. Separating children just because of race “generates a feeling of inferiority as to their status in the community that may affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely ever to be undone.” Segregation therefore deprived black students of equal protection of the laws under the 14th Amendment.
  • And that is the Brown v. Board of Education court case. This is very monumental because now every race goes to the same school.
  • wow. i can't believe it used to be like that.
