- The kind one day decided he wanted a new crown and he took some good and too it to the gold smith and tell the gold smith to make him a new crown, a few days later the gold smith gave the king the crown and the king likes it but he thinks the gold smith cheated him, the king thinks the gold smith took gold and something else and mixed it together.
- DENSITY
- The king took his crown to Archimedes to have him test if it was pure gold or something was mixed in. So Archimedes said we will find if it is pure gold by using density . DENSITY-how much does it way weigh when a material fills a certain amount of space. So Archimedes realizes that he can measure the density of the metal that makes up the crown and then he can figure out what the number is and see if it matches up, if its 19.3 the its probably gold but if its lower then 19.32 then the gold smith cheated the king.
- In Order to come up its this number for density Archimedes has to measure the mass how much the crown weighs and the volume of the crown how much space it takes up then he can divide the mass by the vole get the density and check to see if its actually gold now the mas is easy that´s how much the crown weighs so all he got to do is put the crown on a scale, the volume though is harder the volume the amount of space the crown takes up thatś hard to calculate.
