- Hi! I’m Harper, and this is my plant, Barry. He needs to get food somehow, but how? Well, he starts by collecting sunlight, water, (H2O), and carbon dioxide, (CO2), using his leaves, which contain chloroplasts, and his roots. These things added up make glucose and oxygen, or O2.
- Yum! And now I can grow big and tall!
- Yes, Barry! Using the sunlight, water and carbon dioxide, he can make glucose! That way he can grow to be a mighty oak! Photosynthesis is important because all organisms that eat plants or other organisms that eat plants are receiving glucose, which the organisms use to make energy.
- Bye everybody!
- And guess what? There's a "recipe" for it too! H20 plus CO2 plus sunlight make glucose, or energy, and O2. Thank you so much for watching and check out our video about cellular respiration!
