Testo Storyboard

  • Well, the fact that Ariel is white has no bearing on the plot of The Little Mermaid. The little mermaid princess Ariel sets off on an adventure to discover who she is in a world that is different from her own. A stunning, dark-skinned Black woman can carry off this plotline just as effectively as a blue-eyed White woman. Halle Bailey's long, red hair is another way that Disney has opted to stay faithful to Ariel's original appearance. Keep in mind that Ariel is a legendary creature rather than a person, which should completely disprove the racial issue. The reason people adore Ariel is not that she is white, but rather because of her upbeat personality, her empathy for others, and her adventurous spirit.
  • You're totally on point Anne!
  • Serves him right.
  • Hmmp!
  • It still doesn't makes sense tho. They should have stick to the original instead of changing it since she is a European-themed figure based on a European fairy tale and culture, she has a legitimate reason to be white. And for this reason, she is a fish-tailed mermaid rather than an African water spirit. Additionally, many other characters in the movie, including her family and the mer people of Atlantica, have connections to her race.
  • Then, let me ask you something. Since Jackie Chan is skilled in martial arts, should we consider casting him as Black Panther? Should we say that the Last Airbender movie made the proper choice in portraying Aang as a white man rather than an Asian, as the original series depicted,? He can do martial arts, after all.
  • Dude, do you really think black people is suited to be a princess? Can't you look at the mirror first then wear a crown, let's see if it suits you.
  • That's foul, Josh! if you can't justify your reasoning, you shouldn't just insult the other people or your opponent. That's too childish!
