After leaving Troy, Odysseus and his men raid Ismarus which is the city of the Cicones. The Cicones are enemies of Odysseus and Odysseus and his men end up fighting and killing each other.
Book 9: Cyclops

The Lotus Eaters were a race of people and it was dangerous to be a part of them because of the plants power over the people. Once you eat the Lotus it makes it hard for people to want to leave the island and return home.
Book 10: Circes Island
Odysseus gets stuck in a cave with Polyphemus (son of Poseidon) who is a big scary cyclops and cannot get out because there is a huge boulder blocking the exit.
Book 11: Land of the Dead
Odysseus comes up with a plan to get the cyclops tipsy and harm his sight so he can have Polyphemus remove the boulder so he can escape.
Odysseus stays in Circe's island (Aeaea) for around a year. She is known to be a witch and turns Odysseus' men into swine.
Odysseus listens to Circe's instructions on how to get home. He ends up sacrificing a lamb for Tiresias.
