- Although slavery has ended that does not mean that you are going to have the same rights as white people. Segregation is still a thing and although it is not as bad it still exists

- Why am I talking on a day where my people and I are not gaining freedoms. I will not be able to stand up here and say anything positive until my people and I gain freedom.
- Inaugural Address
- Emancipation Proclamation, slavery has been proven to be inhumane. The war only started because one wasn't able to compromise and the other wasn't just going to give up
- The end of slavery was not the hardest part, it was trying to gain civil rights and freedoms and stop the harsh segregation. Having the amendments getting put in place and finding African Americans who were willing to fight for the cause of segregation changed the way of history.
- Brown v. Board of Education
- Separate but equal from plessy v. ferguson is wrong and violates the fourteenth amendment of equal protection of laws.
- Fredrick Douglass was one of many activists but he stood up to the cause of ending slavery and gaining rights for African Americans. When asked to speak at the celebration of freedom he was astounded when he knew that himself would not be gaining freedoms so though his speech Douglass shedded light on slavery which led to the Emancipation Proclamation 10 years later.
- Social Dilemma
- The struggle for freedom changed as Lincoln ended slavery it was no longer the freedom of ending slavery as it was gaining rights.
- The struggle for freedoms changed when the supreme court got rid of separate but equal because it was no longer not having equal school districts but it was figuring out how to feel equal in the same school districts, and focus on other issues of segregation.
- I am stuck on this one because it this is not in the past so its not history its what is to come in the future. In some ways it is freedom but in the same way we are trying to break away from the manipulation the companies have set out to draw us in. So its not freedom as it is us trying to limit ourselves on how much time we choose to spend on our phones, and how much time we allow the major companies to pull us in.
