- RISING ACTION
- One Night In Italy, there was a festival. That night Montresor saw Fortunato and asked him if he wanted to share a bottle of wine. To get to the bottle though, they will have to travel through the catacombs. Fortunato takes the offer and goes to get the bottle with Montresor, with him already being intoxicated.
- CLIMAX
- Montresor says that Fortunato has done something to him that was very bad, and that he wants to get his revenge. He doesn't say what Fortunato did to him so we know that what Fortunato did was very bad.
- FALLING ACTION
- Montresor takes Fortunato down the staircase to the catacombs to further his hoax. As Fortunato looks ill Montresor asks him if they want to turn back but Fortunato says - "a little cough will not hold me "so they keep going down the staircase.
- RESOLUTION
- When they reach the catacomb, Montresor's hoax is almost completed. There is no amontillado to be found, Montresor shackles Fortunato inside the catacomb and starts to lay the bricks.
- As the wall is being finished Fortunato screams for Montresor to stop and let him free while he is rustling with the chains. The screams will not help though. It is too late. Montresor's hoax has been completed.
- LET ME OUT!!!!
- Montresor finishes and walks away while hearing the screams of Fortunato and his chains that he is shackled in. Montresor feels some remorse at the end but doesn't let him out still. No one has disturbed Fortunato in 50 years after the revenge. Montresor has completed his revenge.
