- It follows that Mrs Flowers used ice on ordinary days, when most of the families in Marguerites town use ice on rare summer days to use in the wooden ice cream freezers. Mrs Flowers took the shopping bags and went into the kitchen. Marguerite looked around the room.
- Browned photographs looked at me, freshly done curtains pushed against themselves against the wind. I want to take this entire room to Bailey and enjoy it.

It occurred to Marguerite that Mrs. Flowers expected a response and she had to speak.
