I'm really stressed for my maths test that I was never stressed about before.
I'll put a liner on just incase I get my period.
Talks to Lucy about how she is feeling.
That's okay. Did you bring the kit!?
Of Course!
I really need to get to school. I think I'm on my period.
At school checking if mIa got her period
Oh no! I got it.
I'm all prepared so everything will be okay.
It's okay it's normal.
Mia woke up with cramps so she took some pain relievers. She had a feeling that it was her period so she made sure her period kit was packed for school. She also put a liner on just to be caucious.
Since then I have done my research
The average cycle for a period is 21-35 days.
When Mia got on the bus she told Lucy straight away
Research
Cramps are caused by the shedding of the inner lining of your uterus.
Breast tenderness is common.
When Mia got to school she went to the bathroom and saw that she had got her first period. At first, she was shocked and a bit anxious but after a while, she realised there was nothing to worry about. This is a normal thought process.
Do not sleep with a tampon in because it can cause Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).
For your first period, it is common that you can suffer from diarrhoea or nausea.
Before class Mia quickly went to the library to do some research so that she was educated and knew what was going on inside her body. It is important that every young girl is educated so that it makes the process less nerve-racking. It is also important that you talk to people you trust about your feelings like Mia did with Lucy and her Mum. Although you only have to share what you are comfortable with sharing.
What I need to know about my period.
On average, periods last around 3-7 days a cycle.
Change your pad every 3-4 hours but if your period is heaving this will have to be more often. This is to prevent bad odors and possible leakage.
