  • UNHEALTHY LIVING SPACES
  • A normal work day for a little kid older than 5 was often 12-14 hours. They were very sought after because they obeyed orders without any objection. Even though they worked 6 days a week, they only got paid 1 shilling.
  • Can't a kid catch a break?
  • Windows and doors were always locked, making the temperature in factories commonly 80 degrees. In addition, factories were cramped and filthy. Workers got very little pay for very hard work.
  • Kids would have to come home from hard hours of work to a small, cramped apartment filled with other families. Kids were very unsafe in their high crime neighborhoods, and they often got very sick because diseases spread faster when people are closer together.
