  • On the third day, Santiago spoke with the desert, explaining that he needed to return to his love and requesting help in order to survive. As a result, the desert provided the youngster his sand to assist the wind's flow. The wind came, and Santiago asked for support as he talked about how they were both created equal and share the same soul, and how the wind doesn't understand love, so the wind blew with all its might to produce a sandstorm so the youngster could see the sun.
  • "Then why this?"
  • "Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time."
  • The sun came closer, saying that he knew love and sees the Soul of the World in the distance. Continue on, the wind leads to the realization that everything performed its purpose as a being until it was no longer needed. The youngster continues, "Everything turns into something better," implying that everything around us will improve. The sun decided to help Santiago reach the hand that had written everything after hearing his comments. The boy, on the other hand, recognizes that the god's spirit has its own soul and is capable of doing marvels.
  • "You'll learn that a man shouldn't be so stupid."
  • "I'm digging for treasure!"
  • Santiago eventually transformed into wind, which blew so hard that the camp was nearly demolished. When the wind stops blowing and the boy is no longer in the same place. The boy was on the other side of the camp at the time. The Alchemist was pleased as he viewed the youngster as his ideal follower, and the Chieftain was happy because the boy let him understand and see the god.

  • When the Alchemist and Santiago arrived at the Coptic monastery, the Alchemist used the Philosopher's stone to turn lead into gold. The Alchemist divided the gold into four pieces, giving a quarter to the monk for his generosity, a quarter to the boy because he had lost all of his money to the enemy chieftain, a quarter to himself, and the final quarter to the monk with the instruction that if the boy ever needed it, he should give it to Santiago.
  • As the refugees beating the boy, Santiago confess that he had dreamed of finding treasure at this spot where his tears dropped. The leader approach and tell him he also had a recurring dream that there a treasure at the root of the tree growing through the abandoned church in Spain. The leader said he did not go search for it because it's a dream.
  • After Santiago arrive the abandoned church in Spain, the place of where he started. He dig, and find a chest of gold coins, precious stones and gold masks. He place Urim and Thummim in the chest as is part of what he receive during the journey, then he head to Tarifa for his promised, later to Fatima.
